A Royal Navy veteran of the Second World War has died in Letchworth, but is set to have no family at his funeral.
GC McDowell, who was 96 and living in a care home in Willian, had no family left apart from a distant cousin in Canada who is too frail to make the journey.
The Royal British Legion has invited the public to attend his funeral at 1.45pm on Tuesday, at the Vale Crematorium in Luton.
