On Saturday the branch held a Disco & Buffet at the Memorial Hall Shefford. The occasion was organised in order to receive a cheque for £3,384 from Mr Shalinda Keji, who had completed the London Marathon and his sponsorship raised £1,384. 'Kej' works for ANC Express Ltd. Brogborough and his boss, John Monroe donated a further £2,000 making a grand total of £3,384. The money was presented to Mr V King, the branch poppy appeal organiser to be added to the Haig Fund. All this came about because Vic's brother David happens to work for ANC and last year persuaded John Monroe to display giant poppies on their fleet of lorries. David is a member of the Shefford Branch. The disco was well supported and enjoyed by all who attended. Thanks were expressed to Jean King and Pearl Rouse for the catering, to Betty Mansell for donating many prizes for the raffle, to Margaret Dorson for manning the bar and all for supporting the occasion which it is hoped to repeat next year.
