THE headline acts for this year's Rhythms Of The World festival have been announced.

On the main stage, former BBC Jazz Band of the Year, Jazz Jamaica will play Saturday while the UK's number one swing band, The Jive Aces, will play out the festival on the Sunday.

The veteran singer-songwriter John Otway will headline The Willow Stage on Saturday.

And representing local talent will be Flamboyant Bella and Exit Avenue who will headline the new BBC Introducing stage on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Performance director Steve Smither said: "This year's festival will continue the tradition of bringing musical diversity from our local community as well as introducing music and artists from around the world. We have performers from America, Madagascar and Niger as well as a Welsh language folk band and a choir performing 'shape note' music."

The event takes place at Hitchin Priory on July 4 and 5 and organisers are calling for volunteers to help make the weekend a success. For more information email volunteers@rotw.org.uk
