Law puts Rotherham ahead just before the break

John Mousinho scores Boro’s second half equaliser in this entertaining match at Rotherham. Mousinho’s strike cancelled out Nicky Law’s first time effort to give Boro a share of the points. Chris Holroyd could have clinched the win for Stevenage in injury time, but although he hit the back of the net it was from an offside position.

9mins - Stevenage had the first effort at goal, but Michael Bostwick’s header from an acute angle was straight at Andy Warrington.

13mins - Kevin Ellison then had a low shot from 20 yards only for Chris Day to get down to his right and palm the ball to safety.

19mins – Chris Holroyd runs into the box on the right and as the centre-back approaches pulls the ball back for Stacy Long who is available and in space. The midfielder hits the ball first time, but it’s too close to Warrington and the keeper pulls off a good save with his legs.

21mins – Michael Bostwick skips past a challenge, then dinks his shoulder to go past another defender and shoots low at Warrington. The keeper grabs it low down, but as he falls he spills it and the ball trickles towards the line. Too slowly from Boro’s point of view, though, as Warrington manages to dive on it and hold it.

27mins – Holroyd, holding off Nick Fenton, passes the ball out right to Lawrie Wilson who crosses first time to John Mousinho who’s just inside the 18-yard box but his header goes over.

29mins – Peter Winn crosses from the left, Chris Holroyd misses it, the ball is cleared only to Long on the edge of the box but his shot goes straight at Exodus Geohaghon who heads clear. Just 30 seconds later Holroyd, who’s a real handful up front, passes to Wilson who crosses in for Long who can’t direct his header towards goal from 16 yards.

32mins – Peter Winn crossed from the left, Wilson at the far post climbs over Newey and heads just wide.

45+2 - Ronnie Henry slips, leaving three against one at the back. Le Fondre passes out right to Nicky Law who runs on with the ball to the edge of the Boro box and hits a fierce right-footed effort into the top right corner of Chris Day’s goal. Terrific goal.

Second half

48mins – A Rotherham corner is crossed in just under the bar. Chris Day gets a hand to it, then a Boro players tries to clear it. The ball hits Jason Taylor and deflects towards goal but Day is untroubled and holds on. At the other end Boro have a chance but it’s low and straight at Warrington.

53mins – Warrington hits a goal kick straight to Pope up front but he cannot get any purchase on it, and his header is an easy take for Day.

59mins - Fenton receives the first yellow card of the match, for a foul on Holroyd.

61mins – Bostwick receives the ball 20 yards out and tries his luck. His low shot is heading to the right hand corner until Warrington pulls off a wonderful one-handed save to palm it wide.

64mins – Nicky Law sneaks through into the box, collects a pass and pulls his foot back only for Jon Ashton to fling himself in front for a block.

Peter Winn then tries his luck from 25 yards and his effort is pushed wide for a corner by the over-worked Warrington.

70mins – Stacy Long, from the left-back position, hits a cross-field ball to Winn who heads over an approaching midfielder and sets off on a 40-yard run which had the Boro fans on their feet before hitting his shot just over from the edge of the box.

72mins – Corner comes in just under the bar at the far post, Fenton heads home but he’s all over Scott Laird who’s flattened to the floor. Free kick instead.

80mins – A ball over the top sees Warrington run out of his box to head clear. Bostwick gets control of the ball but has to find some space before getting his shot away and under pressure can only shoot wide of goal.

82mins – Boro equalise. John Mousinho it is. Laird’s ball over the top to the far post falls to Holroyd. He tries a shot, which is blocked, but his quick feet enable him to pull the ball back for Bridges, the ball falls to Mousinho and he thumps it homed from eight yards.

84mins – Pope tracks the ball back to Scott Laird at left-back. Laird falls and although he protests it was under pressure it didn’t appear to be. Pope, meanwhile, taps the ball inside and tries to cross across goal but it deflects off Mark Roberts and Day saves at his new post.

90+2mins - Le Fondre spins and shoots in the box following a hopeful punt into the area, but it’s straight at Day and the keeper holds it.

90+3mins - Odubade sneaks in at the far post, passes it across goal and Holroyd turns it in. But it’s offside from two yards.
