TWO Rotarians have received major awards in which more than £1,000 is donated to Third World causes of their choice.
Two Paul Harris Fellowships were presented by Rotary Club of Stevenage Grange to former Lister Hospital vascular surgeon Roger Armour, from Hitchin, and Ian Begg, from Stevenage.
Mr Armour, who has now retired, invented a small portable opthalmascope to detect a range of eye problems which now benefits global health care.
Mr Begg was presented with the award in recognition of his outstanding work in promoting the club's assistance in supporting Mr Armour's project.
The award, which includes $2,000 going to Third World projects, is the highest recognition Rotary can present a member of the public or Rotarian member.
The awards were presented by Grange Rotary Club president Bryan Cornish and club district governor Meirion Morris at a ceremony at the Corus Hotel, Stevenage.
