A roof of a house in Lower Stondon was completely destroyed in a fire yesterday.
Fire crews from Stotfold and Hitchin were called to Cherry Trees at about 4.50pm following reports that a roof of a three bedroom semi-detached house was well alight.
Joined by aerial platform and operational support units from Bedford, the firefighters remained on scene until just after 7pm having put the fire out and assisted in a salvage operation.
The first floor of the house was damaged by heat and smoke, as was a neighbouring property’s roof.
Nobody was injured in the fire and the cause is being treated as accidental.
