The champions of this year’s series of Robot Wars are set to battle it out in Stevenage against other familiar faces from the BBC show as part of Robots Live – back in town for the third year.

Flamboyant fighters Apollo were firm crowd favourites on the rebooted Robot Wars as they used their pneumatic flipper to overturn challengers and house robots alike.

And next month they will be joined by TR2, Gabriel, Eruption, Behemoth and other opponents at the Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre.

Team Apollo captain Dave Young said: “After winning the new series of Robot Wars, we can’t wait to get in the arena again and fight in front of a live audience at Robots Live.

“Not only does it give our the fans a chance to see the action up close, it gives us another house robot to attack!”

The house robot joining competitors in the arena is the 1,000kg Goliath, who is capable of rolling over a car.

The purpose-built arena boasts a pit, a floor flipper and two massive hammers controlled by the audience – and the show will also include Robots Live’s unique robot boxers.

The shows at the Lytton Way venue are at 3pm and 6pm on Saturday, October 1, and 12 noon and 3.30pm the next day.

Tickets are available from the Gordon Craig Theatre box office on 01438 363200 or from robotslive.co.uk.
