MOTORISTS using the A1(M) faced a slow drive to work this morning with road works forcing the Highways Agency to enforce a 50mph speed limit northbound between junctions 6 and 8 and the closure of long lengths of the hard shoulder.
Police say Highways Agency staff also had to go to the help of a man reported walking on the hard shoulder between junctions 7 and 8 northbound after his vehicle had broken down.
It was the same story southbound with traffic very heavy between junctions 8 and 7 but police say no accidents or breakdowns had been reported and the problem was just the volume of vehicles..
