A ROAD which floods every time it rains is causing misery for a cat's home.

The Greenfields Cattery in Great Wymondley is suffering flood damage after every downpour because of blocked drainage on Willian Road.

John Allard, who runs the boarding home with wife Helen, said: "This has been flooding now for two years. Every time it rains it floods. It's sometimes eight inches deep.

"The gutters are blocked with sludge. Herts Highways clean out the first eight foot - they've probably done it four or five times - but it doesn't make any difference. They just put a sign saying 'flood' at the end of the road.

"It does affect our business. We had one customer who got out the car and tried to clamber up the bank.

"And there's the effect on our house. Some cars seem to see how far they can get the bow wave up the windows. Each time it floods I have to clean up the high tide mark. It's also breaking up the edge of my drive.

"We pay our taxes and expect something to be done when it goes wrong."

A Herts Highways spokesman said: "We are aware of the flooding and have previously jetted the gullies and pipelines. We are going to carry out an investigation of the drainage system at the cattery site, with a request for repairs to be undertaken if necessary.
