A YOUNG woman has died five days after being involved in a car crash.

Laura Sophie Wood, 29, of Pinemead in Shefford, was driving a Nissan Micra on Southill Road in Cardington at about 8.30am last Thursday when the accident happened.

Her car went into a ditch and an air ambulance, as well as the three emergency services, were called. Ms Wood's car was the only vehicle involved.

She was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, where she died yesterday (Tuesday) of traumatic brain injury and a brain stem contusion.

An inquest into her death was opened and adjourned today (Wednesday) to a date to be arranged.
