RETIRING MP for Stevenage, Barbara Follett, is trying her hand as a catwalk model.

The game MP, who is stepping down come the next General Election, will be taking to the runway at a fashion show aimed at giving men and women aged 55 and over the chance to show off their sartorial style.

The event, staged by Stevenage Borough Council, will be hosted by TV presenter Floella Benjamin at Marriotts School in Stevenage tomorrow (Friday).

Cllr Michael Downing, SBC's executive member for community, health and older people, said: "This promises to be a great, fun activity to engage some of the older people in our community. We launched the event to mark Older People's Day, which aims to raise the profile of the issues surrounding older people and our ageing society.
