Retirement apartments will be built in Knebworth after planning permission was granted by North Herts District Council.
The three-storey building to be built at 111 London Road will offer a total of 26 one and two-bedroom apartments.
There will also be communal facilities, landscaped grounds and parking.
Applicants McCarthy and Stone Retirement Lifestyles Ltd submitted the plans to the council earlier this year.
The council has specified that no one under the age of 60, with the exception of a partner who is over 55, can live in the new apartments.
The building which previously stood on the site was demolished earlier this year.
