A residents' group has been formed to sort out the future of a plot of land in front of their homes.

The group, based on the Fallowfield estate in Sandy, was formed after a meeting at Maple Tree School on Friday.

It follows protests on the estate from residents about proposals by Sandy Town Council to use the green space in the centre of the estate for a youth football pitch, changing facilities and extra parking.

One of the leaders of the campaign Mark Almond says they now hope to open a dialogue with the town council and other residents in the town over the future of the land.

"We will be having a meeting with the town council after listening to what people have to say," said Mr Almond.

"We want to let the people of Sandy, not just those on the estate, say what they want the land to be used for.
