A Stormtrooper from the film Star Wars paid a visit to the learning hub in Paynes Park.

Following Yoda’s mantra of ‘Do or do not do. There is no try’, librarian Bekah Nicholas managed to lure the sc-fi soldier into North Herts, as part of their Star Wars Reads day – which also raised money for The British Legion.

Apart from meeting a fully-fledged member of the ‘dark side’ children had the chance to take part in Star Wars-related activities including colouring sheets and craft activities, as well as the chance to design Yoda’s ears.

Bekah said: “It was such a fun event.

“We were absolutely thrilled by the response and the turnout was fantastic.

“There was such a positive reaction. These events are about conveying reading can be fun and it was great to see the awe on so many youngsters faces – although a few were glad when they realised he wasn’t the real thing.”
