A DEPARTMENT stores' distribution centre will close in 2010, leading to redundancies for some of its workers.
The closure of the John Lewis's Stevenage Distribution Centre will affect 140 employees, according to one worker who said they had had "the rug pulled from under [their] feet."
But a spokesman for the company said the closure is a key milestone in John Lewis's distribution strategy, creating a number of new jobs with the opening of a new distribution centre in Milton Keynes.
