More than 100 pupils from Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 fastened their seat belts to experience the latest 4DX technology at the Stevenage Leisure Park multiplex, getting a unique preview of the new screen – which is bigger than a double decker bus – and opens to the public tomorrow.

They watched trailers for movies in 4DX sitting in special ‘motion’ seats and experiencing special effects like wind, fog, rainstorms and lightning as well as bespoke scents to fit the scenes on screen.

The Stevenage cinema, which marks its 20th anniversary in June, is only the fourth cinema in the UK to get the new immersive technology and the screen is the largest of its kind in the UK.

4DX has been introduced to the UK from South Korea and is considered to be the biggest innovation in cinematic technology ever seen.
