TEACHERS at a North Herts school have been rewarded for their hard work with early years' pupils.

Amy Whitlock and Gill Green, of Highbury Infant and Nursery School in Standhill Road, Hitchin, collected the Herts Quality Standard award on behalf of all the staff involved with the school's foundation stage .

The award scheme celebrates individuals and organisations that provide excellent childcare or early years' education and the school's award was presented by Alan Dinning, Hertfordshire County Council's deputy director of children, schools and families.

Headteacher Helen Avey said: "It's been a great opportunity for staff to work together and build on the strengths between our nursery and reception classes. It was a team effort and we're very proud.
