Bus firm Arriva is offering prizes to passengers to persuade them to pop on to public transport.

They say the treats on offer include everything needed for a more comfortable and enjoyable journey if people decide to reap the financial, environmental and time benefits offered by bus travel.

To encourage people to use tools including its travel planning app which features live, real-time tracking maps and the m-ticket, which allows you to buy tickets on the go and store them on your smart phone, Arriva is rewarding people trialling cashless payments with the chance to be a winner.

Anyone signing up to the Arriva m-ticket service, or who buys tickets online before the end of the month, will automatically be entered into a free draw to win a prize package which includes phones, Kindles, Amazon and iTunes vouchers, headphones, and even portable power banks.

The firm’s Cora Robinson said: “New Year’s resolutions can notoriously hard to stick to, but they needn’t be that challenging. In fact switching your preferred mode of transport is one change that’s simple to do, and could really make a difference to your life.

“A cleaner, greener, more affordable way of getting from A to B, buses can help you to beat the terror of traffic congestion, save you pounds on fuel, and give you back valuable ‘me time’ where you can read, snooze, chat and even work at your leisure.

“We go even further to make your trips easier, whether you’re a seasoned traveller or trying public transport for the first time. Our free Arriva Bus app will allow you to not only plan your journey right from your doorstep, but also track the bus you want in real time meaning you’ll never have to stand at a bus stop in the rain or snow ever again.

“And with the m-ticket, you remove the hassle of carrying around any flimsy printed tickets, and won’t ever have to be concerned about having the right change in your pockets.”

“With these tools at your fingertips, along with on-board features such as WiFi and comfier seating, there really has never been a better time to trial bus travel.”
