BACK in 1995 Yvonne was interviewed by The Comet about setting up the British Schools Museum in Hitchin and an education programme for visitors.
During the interview she said: "It will be a challenge, we have no money but we will do it."
In 1996 the museum opened on a Tuesday only, but now, 10 years on, the museum is open five days a week.
Yvonne, education director at the museum, said: "I see this very much as a team award for British Schools. Without the other volunteers we wouldn't be able to run at all.
"I am very pleased to accept the award and hope it will publicise what we do and encourage younger volunteers to get involved."
Terry Ransome, who nominated her, said: "She deserves recognition - she certainly makes a difference to the 10,000 or so visitors who go to the museum each year.
"They learn and enjoy, all a result of the 10 years that Yvonne has given to the museum.
