Mark Roberts expected to be named Stevenage player/manager for tomorrow’s game at Rochdale

Preston North End hope to confirm Graham Westley as their new manager today.

Terms between Preston, Westley, assistant manager John Dreyer and first team coach Dino Maamria have all been agreed, and negotiations continued last night between Preston and Stevenage to agree compensation.

Although a compensation package has yet to be finalised the Lancashire club hope a deal will be struck in time for them to announce Westley as Phil Brown’s successor today.

Goalkeeping coach Ali Uzunhasanoglu took training at Boro’s Academy yesterday but Mark Roberts is expected to be named player/manager for tomorrow’s game at Rochdale.

Preston chairman Peter Ridsdale says Westley will be at his club’s game with Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, but caretaker duo Graham Alexander and David Unsworth will be in dugout for the game.

Speaking to the Lancashire Evening Post, Ridsdale said: “Graham has agreed that with the game [Preston are due to play Wycombe Wanderers at Deepdale] being so close, he doesn’t want to interfere with the work the two lads have done this week. He will be at the game but not involved.”
