A service of prayer for the climate was staged at a Letchworth church on Monday evening as part of a programme of events hoping to demonstrate the depth of concern about the issue worldwide.
The service at the church of St Thomas of Canterbury in Bedford Road is part of a global programme in which participating churches have set aside the first day of each month to fast and pray that governments will prepare properly for the planned climate summit in Paris late next year.
Peter Willcox, a reader at the church and a trustee of Transition Town Letchworth, said “It’s important to do everything in our power, at individual, community, national and international level, if we are to give our children and grandchildren any sort of future.”
