Power has been restored to homes in Baldock after a car collided with a pylon in the early hours of this morning.
UK Power Networks had to cut electricity supplies to 138 homes in Baldock for safety reasons after a car hit a the pylon in North Road at about 2.30am.
A section of the road – by the junction for Salisbury Road – remains closed in both directions while engineers replace the damaged pylon.
A spokesman for UK Power Networks said: “Engineers worked as quickly and as safely as possible to restore supplies to the affected properties – the majority were back on supply by 9.15am and the final 16 had their supplies restored at 2.30pm today.”
A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and remains in police custody.
