A FOOTBALL club and a children's play area have received a welcome cash injection to buy much-needed equipment.

North Herts District Council's Baldock area committee, which met on Monday, awarded a grant of £1,500 to Baldock Town Football Club to pay for training equipment and coaching.

Cllr Ian Knighton said: "It's one of the biggest football clubs in the county.

"It must touch on just about every household in the town.

"I think we should support their ethos because they take children of all skills and abilities."

A further £1,500 was awarded for the development of the Snipe play area in Weston.
