The ‘shot’ Sandon goose, whose death was widely reported in the national media, is likely to have died of natural causes – a post-mortem has found.
A full forensic examination, including a CT scan, was carried out on the goose by veterinary pathologists at the Royal Veterinary College yesterday, which concluded the goose had not been shot.
The precise cause of death remains unknown and more tests are being carried out.
The news follows rumours that the goose had been shot in a drive-by shooting by two men in a 4X4.
