Boro striker Chris Beardsley can't wait to face his former club, Kettering Town, on Saturday but warned Poppies manager Mark Cooper will have his side prepared.

Speaking on this week's Comet podcast, Beardsley said the Kettering chief is meticulous in his preparation for games but added that Boro will fancy their chances of putting one over their promotion rivals.

"I'm really looking forward to going back," said the 25-year-old. "I believe playing away from home suits us a little bit more at the moment.

"I know Mark Cooper very well of course. He will have studied us a lot - he was at the Wrexham game and he will do a lot of homework.

"He will have them organised and ready for us. I think it's just going to come down on the day to whoever turns up will get the points."

Beardsley hopes the Boro faithful will travel in large numbers to Rockingham Road and create the same kind of atmosphere that inspired Boro to an impressive away win at Luton Town last month.

"I hope the fans will be able to get up there. It's a derelict old ground but when there are a few fans in there it's a decent atmosphere.
