A man from Stevenage has been jailed after admitting robbing an off-licence in the town.
Mitchell Wilson, of Shephall Green, was sentenced to three years and four months in prison for stealing cash and threatening a member of staff during a robbery at VSE Wines in Broadwater Crescent on November 23.
A CCTV appeal was launched by the police and published by the Comet the two days later – when Wilson handed himself in at Stevenage Police Station.
The 23-year-old then pleaded guilty to the offence during a hearing at Cambridge Crown Court earlier this month.
Investigating officer Det Con Hayden Coggins said: “This was an excellent result and would like to thank the public for their help in identifying the offender, which led to him coming forward. I hope the sentence acts as a deterrent to others who may commit this type of crime.”
