A loud bang heard across much of Stevenage this afternoon left many people perplexed – but police have said it was only a firework.
Those who heard the loud noise included Max Taylor, who posted on Facebook to ask: “Does anyone in the Pin Green area know what that explosion just was?”
Several friends replied to say they had heard it in Great Ashby, the Old Town and Symonds Green too.
It was speculated that the noise might be to do with building work or some sort of explosion – but a police spokeswoman told the Comet: “I’ve checked with the officers and it was a firework being set off.”
