BEDFORDSHIRE Police have revealed the background behind their investigation into the incident that led to the evacuation of Samuel Whitbread Community College yesterday (Wednesday).
Police say they were alerted to a possible threat by a teenager who claimed he had a gun.
A pupil informed them and members of staff at the school that he had received a series of threatening texts surrounding his association with a girl that angered the other youth.
Police say no gun has been found and a 17-year-old youth from Sandy has been questioned and released on police bail.
"Police have arrested a teenager for making threats to another person," said a Beds Police spokesman.
"The incident will be fully investigated and we are working with the school to minimise any further disruption. There never was a gun and nobody physically threatened anyone at the school.
