Hertfordshire Police say the A505 has re-opened following an earlier accident.
The road between Luton and Hitchin had been closed for almost two hours after a car and a van towing a trailer containing a car collided.
The car overturned and so did the trailer and the road was closed in both directions while the wreckage was removed close to the junction with Lilley.
One person suffered minor injuries.
