Police have revealed there have been 29 burglaries in North Herts so far this month in residential and business properties – including break-ins in Whitwell, Ickleford and Codicote – and have released CCTV footage of people they wish to talk to.
The offences mostly occurred between 7pm and 7.30pm with the offenders forcing entry to the properties by smashing windows and doors.
Police are also releasing images of two men who they would like to speak to in connection with a burglary which took place at Cresswick in Whitwell at around 6pm on Thursday, February 16.
A small dark coloured vehicle and a red car were seen near the scene of a burglary in Codicote on Friday.
North Herts Chief Inspector Julie Wheatley said: “This amount of burglaries in North Herts is unusual.
“I’d reassure people they are being fully investigated and we have increased patrols in response to them.
“I’d like to ask for help from the public in reporting any suspicious vehicles or activity.
“It is crucial people contact police straight away if they see anyone acting suspiciously, particularly around their neighbours’ properties.
“It may seem small or insignificant but we would rather attend to check it out and it turn out to be nothing than miss an opportunity to catch an offender.
“Please note down descriptions of people or vehicles, including registration numbers.”
If you have any information about these burglaries or can identify the men pictured, please call the police on 101.
