POLICE remain at the spot where a body part was found yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon.

The body part, which detectives have so far not identified, was found in a lay-by on the northbound carriageway of the A10 near Puckeridge.

Police have cordoned off a large wooded area at the side of the lay-by and a number of items have been taken away for forensic examination. The nearby lane of the road also remains closed.

Murder investigation officers from the Herts and Beds Major Crime Unit say it is too early to say whether the latest find of human remains, after similar finds of a left leg in Cottered, part of a forearm in Wheathampstead and a head in Leicestershire which have all been linked by DNA tests, are linked to the other discoveries.
