Descriptions of two people have been released after a man was punched in the stomach and had his face scratched at a bus station.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was waiting for a bus at Stevenage Bus Station in Danestrete at about 8pm on Saturday when he became involved in a verbal altercation with another man.

The man subsequently punched the victim in the stomach before a woman scratched his face.

The man has been described by police as white, of slim build, 5ft 6ins tall, and in his early 30s.

He had short dark hair brushed forward and was wearing a red fleece top at the time.

The woman has been described as white, petite, 5ft 5in tall and with bleached blonde/white bobbed hair with the roots showing.

She was wearing a hip length black cotton jacket and carrying a large quilted gold bag when the assault occurred.
