Police officers will be patrolling a road outside a school amid concerns about speeding motorists.

The speed limit on the road was previously 30mph but has now been reduced to 20mph.

Pc Lindsey Cox said: “The current speed limit for Walkern Road is now 20mph. This was changed due to the nature of the road, which has residential parking along the road, as well as a school.

“Not all residential roads have a 30mph speed limit and motorists must pay attention to the speed limits signs, as these could vary depending on the area or type of road.

“It is possible that some motorists have not realised that the speed limit in Walkern Road has been reduced and are still driving at 30mph or above. We will be carrying out regular patrols in the road to remind people to drive within the limits and taking action against those who are driving at excessive speed.”
