HERTS POLICE say they were eventually able to re-open the A505 at Offley Hill between Hitchin and Luton eastbound at midday almost three and a half hours after an accident blocked the road.
Two people suffered slight injuries in the incident and were taken to Lister Hospital for treatment after the crash just after 8.30am.
Soon afterwards another accident happened on the opposite carriageway when a flat bed lorry hit the rear of a car whose driver had stopped to make a 999 call to report the first incident.
Neither of the drivers were injured.
