Police probing six Hitchin burglaries arrrest and charge two local men

Police investigating a string of burglaries across Hitchin in the past week have arrested and charged two local men.
The charges relate to six offences recorded in the town between Monday and Wednesday including break-ins to The Priory School, four garages in Swinburne Avenue and a commercial premises on Bury Mead Road.
Anthony Desmidt, 20, from Turnpike Lane in Ickleford and Craig Batten, 39, from Willow Tree Way in Hitchin were arrested during the early hours of Thursday morning.
The men were remanded in custody and are due to appear at Hatfield Remand Court today, Saturday.
