THE victim of a “nasty and unprovoked” attack in the street was left with bruising to his face.

He was walking along Hilton Close, Stevenage at around 7.20pm on Tuesday last week when he came across a van which had been parked half on the road and half on the pavement preventing him from walking along the path.

The man, who is in his 40s, spoke to the driver who then punched him in the face before driving off towards Fairview Road.

The attacker is described as a white man around 5ft 8ins tall. He was of a fair complexion with light brown straight hair and wearing a dark coloured tracksuit style top with large writing on the front. The vehicle was a white Transit van.

PC Andy Scott is investigating and said: “I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened or saw the vehicle prior to or after the incident to contact police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Scott via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101. Alternatively call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
