A ROAD has been closed and police marksmen are standing by as a farmer tries to entice a runaway bull back into captivity.
It is understood that the animal escaped this morning (Thursday) in the Rectory Lane area of Stevenage as it was being taken for slaughter.
As police officers tried to corner it, the beast got through a fence and was trotting alongside Martins Way which is now closed to traffic.
It has gone into a field where efforts are continuing to catch it.
