Officers were called to Broad Oak Way in the town after reports of a fight and found a 17-year-old man with a stab wound to the chest.
He later died in Lister Hospital.
Another youth, also aged 17, and from Stevenage was later arrested and charged with murder. He was due to appear at Hertford Court today (Monday).
