POLICE are investigating an incident of sexual assault that took place early this morning (Thursday).

The woman involved said she was attacked between 2.30am and 2.45am off Lytton Way, Stevenage.

A cordon has been put up at the scene, situated near Stevenage Railway Station, and several police officers are still in attendance.

A police spokesman said: “We can confirm that we are investigating a serious sexual assault on a female just off Lytton Way near the train station in Stevenage between 2.30 and 2.45 am this morning (Thursday).

“A police cordon remains at the scene at this time as investigations continue.

“As this is an ongoing investigation it would be inappropriate to comment any further at this time.”
