A van was set on fire in Stevenage last night, and police are now investigating what is being treated as an act of arson.

Police said the Ford Transit van was set alight between 9.45pm and 10pm last night, in Whomerley Road – south of Six Hills Way.

Stevenage firefighters tackled the blaze using hosereels.

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting crime reference C1/18/2375, or report information online at herts.police.uk/report.

Shortly after the van fire, Stevenage firefighters used a backpack sprayer to put out a deliberate fire in woodland near Six Hills Way.
