Police closed a children’s play area in Stevenage to investigate a suspected arson attack.

officers were called to St Nicholas Park on Pilgrims Way just before 8pm on Thursday last week to reports of a fire.

A bin had been set alight and officers are investigating the incident as arson.

Police tape had prevented people from entering the area, but this has since been removed and the playground reopened.
