It happened at Santander on Queensway just before 4.30am when the offenders – believed to be three men – detonated the explosive device before using crow bars to force open the doors and gain entry to the premises.
The three men have been described as in their early 20s and were wearing dark-coloured hoodies with the hoods up. Two were wearing light-coloured jeans and one was wearing light-coloured trainers.
They left the scene in the direction of King George Playing Fields.
