Police are hunting thieves with a sweet tooth after they stole a chocolate bar from a car – as police link a number of car break-ins in Hitchin.

Police are hunting thieves with a sweet tooth after they stole a chocolate bar from a car – as police link a number of car break-ins in Hitchin.

Officers are appealing for information following four cars being broken into including a Volkswagen Golf on Heathfield Road between 3.30pm on November 13 and 5.30am on November 14. An iPod, a small amount of cash and a Mars bar were stolen from the vehicle.

On Grove Road, another Volkswagen was broken into, between 8pm on November 13 and 7am on November 14, with a quantity of cash being taken, and the door left ajar.

A leather gear stick, an iPhone charger and a sunglasses case were stolen from a Mazda convertible on Ickleford Road between 4pm on November 13 and 8am on November 14.

A Volkswagen Passat, parked on Old Hale Way, was broken into between 11.30pm on November 13 and 6.25am on November 14. The boot was left open and a car jack and a small quantity of cash was taken.

PC Tony Fletcher, investigating, said: “These crimes have greatly inconvenienced the victims – I want to remind people to double check their cars are locked and secured before they leave them, with no valuables on show or in the glove box.”
