THIS is the face of a man who police believe has carried out six armed robberies at bookmakers.

Detectives are appealing to the public to help them track down the robber, who brandishes a black handgun and often has a Tesco carrier bag.

One of his targets was the Parsons and Co betting shop in Grove Road, Hitchin, at around 11.40am on January 20.

He went in carrying a handgun and demanding money from the female shop manager.

He damaged a door to gain access to the staff area and made the manager lie on her front. He took a quantity of cash and personal items from her handbag including her wallet, a small quantity of cash and cards.

Other robberies were in Watford, Potters Bar, Hatfield and Hemel Hempstead. The first was last September and the latest on July 5.

The suspect is believed to be in his 50s. He usually wears a hat or balaclava, large-lensed sunglasses and black gloves when committing offences.

Anyone who knows him or has information about the crimes is asked to ring police on 01707 638235 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
