A 43-year-old man died in Stevenage town centre last night, police have confirmed.

Emergency services – including the Herts Air Ambulance which landed on top of the St George’s Way multi-storey car park – were called to Market Place at about 5.20pm where a man was found unconscious and not breathing.

Paramedics tried to revive him, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 6pm.

A police spokeswoman did not confirm how the man had died, but said his next of kin had been informed and that officers are not seeking anyone else in relation to his death.

It is the second non-suspicious death in the town centre in two months after a 25-year-old man was pronounced dead in Market Place on April 4.
