POLICE have cordoned off an area and put in place a road closure after what is believed to be a hand grenade was uncovered by workmen draining a town centre pond this morning (Tuesday).
All three emergency services are currently at the Town Centre Gardens in Stevenage, after what appears to be a hand grenade was discovered in the mud at the bottom of the pond.
Police have put up a 100-metre perimeter cordon as a precaution, cordoning off Cuttys Lane.
A road closure has also been put in place southbound on St George’s Way, from the Six Hills Way junction to the Fairlands Way junction.
