A motorcyclist ran off on foot after police stopped him in Letchworth yesterday after suspecting him of drug driving.
The man, who was said to be riding a motorbike ‘erratically’, was pulled over at around 5.10pm in Icknield Way.
Police officers then attempted to prevent him from driving by taking the keys to the bike, but the man became uncooperative and ran off on foot, leaving the motorbike behind.
A police spokesman said: “Officers suspected the man was under the influence of drugs.
“Six officers attempted to trace the man after he ran off but were unable to find him after searching the area.”
Enquiries continue into the man’s whereabouts, with police studying CCTV footage as well as appealing for witnesses to come forward.
