POLICE are appealing for information and witnesses after an assault in Letchworth GC on Saturday, February 6.

The incident occurred in Leys Avenue at approximately 12.30am. It is believed the victim became involved in a verbal altercation with a group of seven to eight men, during which he was struck in the face with an unknown implement.

The victim, a 30-year-old man from Letchworth GC, received injuries to his jaw which required hospital treatment.

Pc Sam Casey said: "This incident took place in an area of Letchworth that is quite busy at that time of the evening and I believe there may have been people in the area that may have seen what happened.
