POLICE appealed for witnesses and information today (Tuesday) after a young woman claimed she was sexually assaulted in an alley.
Officers are investigating the allegation by an 18-year-old woman who said she was attacked on Friday between 2am and 3am in West Alley, off the High Street in Hitchin.
Detective Chief Inspector Liz Hanlon said: "We are fully investigating this allegation and are trying to build a picture of what may have happened that morning. I would appeal for anyone who may have seen a girl in her late teens in distress on the High Street to contact police."
