POLICE have released photographs of a man they wish to speak to connection with an assault in Hitchin.

Officers have released CCTV images of a man they think may be able to help them after a 25-year-old Hitchin man was knocked unconscious by two men in an argument on Brand Street, in the early hours of August 31. The men then made off in the direction of Bancroft and Hermitage Road.

Investigating officer, DC Will Ainsworth from Stevenage CID, said: "It may be that he was a witness to the crime or can offer assistance to the investigation.

If anyone recognises him, or if you have any information about the incident, please call Hertfordshire Constabulary on 0845 3300 222 citing crime reference numbers G1/09/2629. Alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. You do not have to give your name and you could be entitled to a cash reward."

Another man, a 23-year-old from Hitchin has been arrested in connection with the incident. He has been released on police bail.
